To start this card we will begin with the background. For the substrate we will be using distress water color cardstock. First spritzer the watercolor cardstock with water from a sprayer. I am using the Tim Holtz distress sprayer. Then spritz with distress spray stain uncharted mariner and distress mica spray snowfall. Let the colors blend by adding a few droplets of water. After spritz a bit of distress oxide stormy sky on top. Go lightly or the oxide will overwhelm the spray stains.

Next dry off the background with the Ranger heat tool. As the watercolor cardstock is drying sprinkle drops of water over the background this will help create a distressed look.

For the next step we will start on our first snow technique. At the mid point of the card we will paint with collage medium to form two snowy hills. To paint the hills I am going to be using my finger. Another option would be to use a paintbrush. After two small hills have been painted place a piece of scrap paper under the background. Then sprinkle distress glitter to completely cover the glue. After gently tap off the card to shake off extra glitter. Next tip extra glitter back in jar using the scrap paper.

For now we will set the background aside and start working on the moon. Die cut the moon out of silver and white cardstock. Silver for the base and white for the detailed layers. I used the Sizzix Tim Holtz die set moonlight. If you don’t have this die feel free to substitute in other full moon dies.

Glue the metallic moon base to the card. Then add glue to the white detail layer. I prefer to use collage medium. Then with some scrap paper under the moon piece add distress glitter over the top. Give a little tap to dust off extra glitter. Then let dry for about 10-20min. Drying time will vary depending of your climate.

When the detail piece is dry add little glue drops to the back with some collage medium. Then glue to metallic moon base hold for 20-30 seconds to give the two moon pieces to set up.

Next we are going to start building some layers. First die cut out trees or tree line. I used the Sizzix Tim Holtz Birch Tree die set. If you don’t have those I would recommend Sizzix TH Tree Line or forest shadows.

For attracting the birch trees I used collage medium to put dots on the back of the die cuts. Then pressed the die cut to the background.

Once the trees are glued down and dry I added a second layer of snow. For this layer of snow we are using distress Ranger texture paste snowfall. Here I used a pallet knife to spread a the snowfall paste along the bottom edge of the card. The snowfall paste took about 30min to dry.

Next die cut a deer out of some kraft stock. Here I used a scrap of blue Idea-ology cool tone craft stock. Then I attached the deer to the card with some small foam squares. The die set I used for the deer was the darling deer Sizzix set by Tim Holtz. Other deer die could be substituted.

For the next set of dies I die cut some winter greens using the Sizzix festive gatherings. I die cut two of the spruce pieces out of distress white heavy stock. These were then attached to the bottom left and top right of the card with collage medium.

The third snow technique starts with at Tim Holtz Stencil from Stampers Anonymous. THS021 speckles.  Using the stencil I added fluffy snowflakes with distress grit paste opaque. I spread the grit paste with a pallet knife through the stencil to add falling snow to the winter scene.

Next moving onto finish details I used a Krylon silver leafing pen to give the card a shiny silver boarder. To complete the card I added an Idea-ology Christmas label sticker to the top left hand corner.

Last but not least I attached the card front to the folded card base with some ATG tape.
