CMSS March 2025

First cut a piece of distress watercolor card stock to 4.25“ x 5.5“. Then cut a piece of sparkling kraft stock to 4.25“ x 5 1/2“.

Next spray the watercolor paper with distress spray, stains, prize, ribbon, and salt. Add more water as desire to get the sprays flowing then dry with the Ranger heat tool. After add a spritz of distress, spritz hickory smoke for added sparkle.

Next day, cut your sparkle kraft stock panel using the die set leafy twigs. When die cutting leafy twigs, I added an extra layer of paper to help add pressure to the die cut. For dry cutting, I was using a Sizzix Switch plus and a chrome precision plate for fine detail cutting. After weeded the dry cut with a pick or brush. Then I added small dots of glue on the back with distressed collage, medium. Next press the panel on the watercolour panel and hold for a few seconds while the glue set up.

Next, we’re going to create some backgrounds that we will die cut flowers from. For the backgrounds, I used distressed, white, heavy stock and covered each piece of paper with distressing. In total, we will need four pieces of 4 1/4” x 5 1/2“. For each panel, I spread distress and bossing in from the distress dabber directly. To make sure that your paper is fully covered tilted at an angle and make sure you can see a shine. If you can’t see a shine, add more ink. Then I sprinkled pears of distressed glaciers on each of the papers. The first colour combination was wilted, violet with villainous potion, then twisted citron and rustic wilderness. Then I added the colors, catch flamingo, and saltwater-taffy together. The final colour pairing includes prize ribbon and salty ocean. Each of these colour combinations was sprinkled onto the distress white heavy stock. After sprinkling, I like to tap my finger fingers on the back of the card stock to move around the embossing powders.

Then I melted the embossing powder with the Sizzix embossing gun. For the flowers, I die cut with brushstroke flowers by Tim Holtz and Sizzix. One of the very cool things about the breaststroke flowers is that the dye leaves an impression on top of the day cut that show shows you where to place all of your pieces. I then pieced all the flowers together, and also die cut some leaves for added decoration.

Once all the dry cutting was complete, I added some foam squares to the back of some of the flowers and stuck them the upper right hand corner of the card. After the flowers were replaced, I added in a little pieces of greenery as embellishment.

For finishing touches, I die cut some letters out of distressed, white, heavy card stock using the Side Order die set letter board to die cut hellos spring. Before cutting the letters, I did add some double-sided adhesive tape to the back of the letters to make adding them to the card easier.

For the last step, I then added the card panel to a folded piece of card stock measuring at 8 1/2“ x 5 1/2“.

Thank you so much for joining me at the Crafty Corner, until next time, happy crafting!
