Take the lattice portion of the stamp set and add some embossing distress ink. Twist and tap until stamp is evenly covered in ink.
Stamp lattice stamp onto the smooth portion of the watercolor cardstock.
Embossing: Distress glazes picked raspberry and squeezed lemonade. Also have a piece of scrap paper ready to protect your work surface.
Place scrap paper under the background then take a pinch of each glaze and twist and sprinkle the glaze onto the watercolor cardstock. Then take your fingers and gently tap behind the cardstock to shift the glaze around until evenly distributed.
Then take an embossing gun and melt the distress glaze. Keep the embossing gun about 2 inches above the paper while melting the the distress glaze powder.
Next add speckled egg distress ink directly over the top of the distress glaze. This can be done by directly smooshing the ink pad onto the cardstock or by using a blending tool.
After the ink is added take a distress sprayer and add drips of water to the background. To get water droplets slow squeeze the trigger of the distress sprayer. This will give the background a distressed look. Dry off the droplets of water with a piece of paper towel.
Next layer: Die cut a 4in tall oval from the background layer. Here I used the Sizzix stacked oval dies.
Once die cut take the die cut oval and turn it over. This part will be turned into a scenic background.
Oval background: Ranger fine detailer water brush and Distress inks mermaid lagoon and twisted citron.
Start by coloring half the oval with mermaid lagoon to create the sky. Then color the bottom half with twisted citron. Then mix the remaining colors together to get a darker green and dab on the color to get some depth in the grass.
Going back to our watercolor cardstock base, take some foam squares and stick that to the back of the watercolor cardstock. Then stick to the pre cut 4.24x5.5in Idea-ology background.
When the die cut oval of painted watercolor cardstock is dry add adhesive to the back paper and place it in the oval cut out of the distress glaze background.
Rabbit die cuts: pick a die cut rabbit to work with
(Mr, Rabbit, carrot bun, bunny hop, or bunny stitch) or any other rabbit die cut. Die cut from brown kraft cardstock or heavy distress white cardstock.
Take rabbit die cut and take a mini ink blender and apply distress embossing ink to the die cut. Be sure to tilt the die cut at an angle to check if there is good coverage of the distress ink. A shinny surface means there is ink on the substrate, if not shinny then need more ink.
Next get a piece of scrap paper and place the die cut on it then sprinkle on distress glaze. Some distress glaze options include vintage photo, speckled egg, or lost shadow.
Sprinkle speckled egg over the die cut rabbit. Then turn the die cut over and flick the back of the paper. This will remove random bits of distress glaze.
Any excess distress glaze can be tipped back into the jar using the scrap paper.
Then emboss the remaining distress glaze. Since the die cut is much smaller than the background I recommend using the Sizzix squeezers to hold the die cut while embossing.
Next take some distress ink to highlight the glaze. In this case take some pumice stone ink and spreads it over the rabbit with a blending tool or help highlight the speckled egg glaze.
Since carrot bunny also comes with some props and details lets painted the carrot and facial features with some distress ink and the fine detailed water brush.
For the carrot use squeezed lemonade and kitsch flamingo to get on orange color. Then for the leaves of the carrot use twisted citron, and a dash of kitsch flamingo for the bunny’s cheeks.
Then glue the details together. The Carrot has three parts: leaves and layered carrot. The bunny multiple facial details, two cheeks, two eyes, and a mouth. These were glued in place with collage medium.
Hippity Hoppity Feature;
Action wobbler DIY: 4 one inch pre cut circles, marker to coil wire, craft wire, wire cutters, and die pick tool.
First poke a small hole into the centre of two of the circles using the Sizzix die pick tool.
Next coil the wire around the marker 5 times and cut with wire cutters. (I used a deco marker).
Bend half an inch of wire upwards on both ends.
Poke the end of the wire through on of the circles with a hole poked in the middle and bend the wire so it lays flat against the die cut circle. Then glue a circle without a hole over the top, sandwiching the bent piece of wire. Repeat on the opposite end of the wire.
This create a sandwich of coiled wire and glued paper circles. Let the DIY spring set for at least 5 minutes before using.
Card embellishment: Idea-ology Holiday drops (substitute sticky back gems, Nuevo drops, or other embellishment)
Place a drop in each corner of the embossed layer of the card with a dot of collage medium.
Take die cut rabbit and glue the wobbler in the back of the rabbit. Then glue the opposite side of the wobbler to the card. Leave the wobbler and rabbit to dry for at least 5-10 minutes.
Finishing touches: deco gold leaf pen, Hippity Hoppity sentiment stamp set CMS236 crazy talk, Idea-ology ephemera (or paper scrap)
For some added shine outline the oval die cut cut out with the deco gold foil pen.
Next stamp the sentiment on an Idea-ology ephemera element or on a scrap piece of paper. Then attach the sentiment with a couple of mini foam squares.
Thank you for joining in the Hippity Hoppity Easter fun!
Until next time, happy crafting!
